As many of you know, the club does its best to help keep costs low so everyone in our community can enjoy the services we offer. In order for that to continue, we need volunteers to step up and coach our many teams. The most experienced or in-experienced coaches are welcome. We have many coaches and trainers that are willing to assist and help you increase your knowledge in this sport. Also, speaking as a parent, there is no better way to spend quality time with your child then coaching them in this wonderful sport. If you are interested in being a coach please feel free to e-mail us at  . We would love to have you on our team as we continue to bring some friendly competition to our children’s lives.

Exciting News:

The OYA Girls Sports Program is proud to announce that our Chic and Soph divisions will again participate in the Veterans Highway League.  This is the third year that OYA teams have participated in this league which provides our girls the opportunity to compete against teams from other surrounding communities.  Below is the (VHL) mission statement:

The Veterans Highway League (VHL) is a non-profit girls’ softball organization committed to providing all participants with an experience that provides positive self-esteem, team spirit, and good sportsmanship. Our league was formed by a group of communities that have come together to create a girls softball league to further promote the game and provide more opportunities for girls to play at any skill or commitment level.   The VHL is committed to providing an environment that develops the softball skills of all participants within the framework of a balanced competitive league.  An effort is made by each organization to balance the teams they enter in the league to ensure a good experience is had by all girls who compete in the games during the season and playoffs.  The players in this league are taught to win with grace and learn from losses.

Recreational Programs

Widget Softball (Pre-K & K) – This is an INSTRUCTIONAL DIVISION.  The focus is on teaching the players how to play the Sport.  There is no score and no Championship Game.  The first 3 weeks of Practices are a structured “SOFTBALL SKILLS CAMP” managed by the WIDGET COMMISSIONER.  It will be held indoors 3 times per week.  Instructors from the CHICAGO BANDITS Professional Fast-Pitch team will be assisting Volunteer Parent Coaches in teaching the “SOFTBALL SKILLS CAMP”.  The first week is held at the Orland Park Sportsplex.  The second and third weeks are held at the Loebe Center.  The fourth week will be supervised by the WIDGET Commissioner and the Volunteer Parent Coaches held outside at Veteran’s Park.  An Instructional Practice / Game schedule of 2 events per week will be provided for the months of May through mid-June.  The curriculum taught at the “SOFTBALL SKILLS CAMP” will be the focus throughout the Season.

Fast-Pitch Softball -– Orland Park Recreational Fast-Pitch Softball is played during the Spring Season and is our largest sport.  The Divisions range from Pre-K through High School.  Registration begins on or about February 1st.  This is a Recreational Program.  A Recreational player may not be a member of a Travel and/or Club Fast-Pitch Softball team and must play in the OYA Recreational Program.
